CD drives are commonly referred to as “a removable storage device”. what that means is that your RAM is a short term storage device meaning that the information of a program that is currently running is temporarily stored on your RAM, and your hard drive permanently store installed and downloaded files. Your CD/DVD and/or blue ray drives have storage units which can be easily removed, replaced, or switched. When a new piece of computer software, and in many cases hardware, is purchased it will come with a CD or DVD and that is the actual piece of removable storage unit that is being referred to.
